WE'RE FRESH

DELICIOUS FRUIT AND VEGETABLES

West Boylston is a small, rural town in the state of Massachusetts with a small population of around 7,000 people. West Boylston is unique because we are like one big family. Everyone knows everyone in this small town and a lot of the parents in this town graduated from our high school. Most people in this town are really generous, outgoing and friendly. The West Boylston community is very well known throughout the state because of our school programs and sports. Since the town is so small, all of my friends live close which makes it easy to have fun. West Boylston has its fair share of stores, restaurants, and sports fields.

S and S Farms and Deli is a popular business on West Boylston street. It was first owned by Steve Recupero who began selling deli meats, fruits, and vegetables. It has a deli and a fruit stand. Now it is owned by my uncle Josh Bailey. It is located on a very populated street which lures in many customers. They are open 365 days a year. The Christmas spirit is always in the air during the winter at S and S. During the winter the big selling item is the Christmas trees, and wreaths. The deli meat is known to be the best. S and S is a cheap, and delicious way to buy fresh produce and meat. Since I work at S and S I thought it would be a good idea to show you S and S through an employee.

VEGETABLE RACK

This is a side view of two racks that support the vegetable stock that S and S sells. The vegetables are checked every now and then for any rotted veggies and the vegetables are rotated every hour or so to keep everything that the customers buy fresh.

THE BERRY TABLE

This is one of the multiple berry tables throughout the store. Strawberries and blueberries are one of the fastest selling items throughout the entire year. The colors of these fruits is what draws everyones attention. Every package is checked to make sure it fresh and clean for the customers.

THE BROCCOLI TABLE

Here is where we put the packed broccoli, cauliflower and asparagaus. The broccoli and asparaguas are both bought by the pound.

THE REG

This is wear the money is made! This is the main register where and employee addes up the total and collects the customers money. While working the register the cashier has to be friendly, polite and willing to make conversation.

PEACHES

This is a picture of the beautiful peaches that S and S sells every summer. People always come in asking for them because they can't wait for them to arrive.

WATERMELON

Here is the ripe watermelon and the top selling banana table. The watermelon is cut right before it is put on the table and the strong red color of the watermelon attracts many customers.

RING EM' UP

Here is one of S and S's employees ringing up a customer before closing time. The employees are required to memorize and learn how to register before they learn anything else.

CORN ON THE COB

This is the pile of corn that is refilled every thirty minutes because of its popularness. Corn is one of the top selling items during the summer here and the corn is always at its best shape. Employees always check the pile for smaller ears of corn to pack just to make sure everyone gets the biggest ears of corn possible.

THE TOMATO TABLE

This is a very visually appealing photo of the tomatoe table. Here we have cluster tomatoes, plum tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, grape tomatoes and vineripe tomatoes. They are all sold by the pound and are very delicious.

ONIONS AND POTATOES

Here is the back left of the store where the onions and potatoes are sold. The employees always check to make sure all the potatoes are full and the onions look good. All the potatoes and onions are sold by the pound and they are cheap!

THE THREE DOOR COOLER

The Three door cooler holds everything that needs to stay refrigerated. The cooler is filled with brown and white eggs, romaine, green leaf and red leaf lettuce, mushrooms, celery and much more.

THE BACK ROOM

This is the back room of the fruitstand. In the back room the employees have many responsiblities. There are orders that are placed on the bulletin board for an employee to get ready for that days delivery. In the back room we cut vegetables, pack produce, and prep fruit.

THE SECOND REGISTER

This is the second register in the fruitstand. It looks identical to the other register but is this one is only used if the line is to long at the first register. When the store is packed with customers an employee will open up this second register so keep the customers moving.

THE INSIDE COOLER

This is the inside cooler of the fruitstand. The big fans blow out cold air to keep the cooler at a specific temperature. Here is where all the produce is kept over night to keep it cold and fresh for the next day. This cooler is restocked every week with new delicious food.

THE FRUIT RACK

Here is where the apples, grapes, pears and much more fruit are conviently placed for customer satisfaction.
