Look for 5 different items that are wooden.
Capture the grain of the wood and the roughness or smoothness of the surface.
To make your photographs aesthetically pleasing, remember to zoom in on the subject. You are trying to capture the specific texture of the item, not give a landscape view.
Think about open and closed form.
Use side lighting if possible to bring out the 3 dimensionality of the textures.
